Applewood has two Tennis Canada Certified professionals who are available for private and semi-private lessons. Whether you are new to the sport and just learning, or a more experienced player looking to take your game to the next level, our coach can get you there!

  • Murray Pinto

    Murray Pinto is a Tennis Canada Certified Instructor with 16 years of coaching experience. He has a unique history with Applewood Tennis Club. Murray started his tennis career as a Club Attendant at the age of 14, learning the game at Applewood Tennis Club, before becoming a player, and now finally coaching at the club. A full-time teacher (a career that, Murray says, Applewood Tennis Club sowed the seeds of), Murray utilizes his skills to enlighten his students (both young and young at heart) on techniques and technicalities of the game. Always positive, boundlessly patient, with a keen eye for detail, Murray can help the most frustrated novice or future tennis star improve their game.

  • Herbert Duff

    Herbert Duff is a certified tennis pro with multiple years of experience coaching a range of athletes from junior to adults, and collegiate tennis players. He was hired as York University’s Assistant Coach and was then promoted to Head Coach in September 2021. Herbert had played competitive tennis since the age of 11 years old. He was named the MVP tennis player in high for St. Francis Xavier SS and competed during the following years between 2012-2015.

    In addition, Herbert had completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Fitness and Health promotions from the University of Guelph-Humber.

    Herbert has a passion for bridging tennis and exercise science in order to create the best possible programs for his athletes. Herbert is a notable trainer that handles player development, including technical/tactical training, strength & conditioning, recovery modalities, and sports psychology that revolves around tennis.
